Paulette Campbell is the founder of The Music Castle and has been a vocal instructor, piano teacher and professional singer for over twenty years. She began her vocal training at an early age and though she didn’t have a “natural ear” and was told, “Music was a waste of time” her overwhelming passion to sing and create music drove her to succeed and share with others.
Paulette works with all levels of students. Her approach is one of mutual admiration, love and respect for both her student and the art. Her passion for music and singing, compassion for students and vast personal experience allows her to communicate in a language that is easy for the aspiring student to understand.
For the advanced, customized training techniques that address the students specific needs and vocal heath care programs that balance the demands of touring and recording. For those on a song writing level she tunes into her students and assists the creative process.
For the beginner an introduction to the fundamentals of piano, ear training, devolving a song repertoire and finding their own unique voice/style with ease. Many of her young students go on to pursue solo performance careers on both the Rock/Pop and Broadway stages.
Paulette has developed a special method for teaching piano to children ages 3 to 18. The “ABC’s of Piano” encompasses various visualization techniques. The student discovers the use of their photographic memory in note reading and develops a natural sense of rhythm. Her approach is fun loving and imaginative. Lessons are done in a way that the child’s memory of their first formal musical experience will be one of joy and accomplishment rather than frustration. No matter what life path they choose this imprint will remain.
Paulette has studied with many teachers through out the United States, examining various techniques and approaches. From Seattle to California she studied with such teachers as Seth Riggs associates and Mark Baxter with whom she connected with most. She studied at the John Ford School of Voice in San Francisco.
She is often referred by Dr. Raphael Nach of Beverly Hills, CA an Ear, Nose and Throat specialist as well as famed vocal coach Mark Baxter, author of "The Rock'n'Roll singers survival guide." She has also received special training in early childhood development, psychology, anatomy and nutrition. She is currently studying Kundalini, the science of movement, breath and sound to heal the body, sharpen the mind and elevate mood.
As an author Paulette has published a comprehensive vocal instructional CD entitled "A Journey Into Vocal Awareness." This is a very useful tool for at home practice. As a professional singer/songwriter she has recorded and performed in many different styles of bands. She joined, fronted and recorded with her first Heavy Metal band Dementia at age 17 in Modesto, CA then went to San Francisco to start the Alternative Rock band Alcoholic Stacee. Later she ventured to Seattle at the height of the Grunge era to sing in the band she named IRIS. Now back in Los Angeles she performs Jazz, Broadway and is back into the Heavy Metal scene. In Los Angeles she co-founded the band Nava with Mr. Brian Rupp and they went on to record an EP.
Paulette is the founder and lead singer for the World’s Only All-Female Tribute to Black Sabbath, Mistress Of Reality. Her band has achieved great acclaim and has graced the pages of magazines and newspapers from New York to Hawaii. They are actively touring the US and Europe. She is also has two other musical projects close to her heart, The Guru Singh Experience and The New Evolution. Her and her husband perform weekly in Los Angeles, California.
